“Today is a new day. Don’t forget to smile. Be happy!”

The above image is a piece of graffiti on a wall near my home when I was living in Totonicapan, Guatemala. In parts of the war-torn world where poverty is the norm, these messages can still be found.

I am a graduate student getting an MPH with a focus on Global Health. My experiences range from Peace Corps service in Panama and Guatemala to AmeriCorps service in California, as well as work along the Arizona/Mexico border. This blog serves as a dumping ground for my musings and rantings about development work and public heath, human rights, my favorite taco stands, y lo que sea.
